The luxury car manufacturer Bentley has entered the NFT industry by launching its first venture as a one-time NFT drop on the Polygon network. The NFT collection will be released in September 2022 and will be limited to 208 pieces with special relevance to Bentley. This collection will also represent Bentley’s fastest Grand Tourer (Continental GT Speed) and the total production of the iconic R-Type Continental of 1952, the car that inspired the modern Bentley design DNA.

The NFT collection will feature unique artwork by Bentley Design and will offer unique access and exclusive rewards to its holders. The collection will be minted on Polygon, an Ethereum scaling platform that has been actively launching various NFT collections. The carbon-neutral approach of Polygon confirmed the decision for Bentley to launch its NFT collection on Polygon.
Member of the Board for Sales and Marketing, Alain Favey, comments:
“Bentley customers are living their lives online, purchasing luxury goods with digital currency, and establishing businesses in the Metaverse. We’ve always engaged our customers where they explore their passions, and today that means being present in digital marketplaces and offering NFT assets. We’ve seen how NFTs have raised the profiles of both art and artist, and we believe the same can happen in the luxury automotive space.”
Ryan Wyatt, CEO at Polygon, said:
“Polygon is excited to expand our partnerships in the automobile industry, by working with the most prestigious brand in its sector. Polygon will provide the sustainable, low-fee infrastructure Bentley requires for its foray into Web3. By embracing this novel tech, Bentley secures its position in the next iteration of the internet, and doing so via Polygon’s carbon-neutral network will assist the automaker on its journey toward attaining carbon-neutrality by 2030.”
This is the first venture by Bentley into Web 3 and will be an integral step for the car manufacturer as it explores other digital platforms, including NFCs (non-fungible chips). Metaverse applications, online gaming and the use of blockchain technology across various spectrums.
