After months of proof of concept testing, a top company official has announced that Disney Star, the India division of the American media giant Walt Disney Company, will soon launch its metaverse platform Starverse.
The debut season of Starverse will overlap with the 2023 edition of the IPL (Indian Premier League). Since second-screen engagement while watching live sports is so high, the metaverse platform will allow Disney Star to improve its digital offering for those viewers who are also sports fans.

“Our metaverse, dubbed “Starverse,” is an interactive 3D environment tailored to sports fans. The sports genre lends itself naturally to being shared across multiple channels and mediums with other fans, “Sanjog Gupta, Disney Sports Head, recently told ET. Moreover, he said, Starverse’s proof of concept was introduced at last year’s Asia Cup and ICC T20 World Cup.
