#EndSARS started as a grass-roots movement to end police brutality, but what started as a campaign in Africa’s most populous country, Nigeria, has now become a global phenomenon embraced by the world’s biggest celebrities. In the time since Nigerians began flooding the streets to rally against a police unit that was hugely abusive, megastars like Beyonce, Rihana, Cardi B, and Drake have dedicated their time and effort to the cause.
#ENDSARS dominating the globe
The protest is now dominating the social media feeds on practically every continent and has also made its way into the US Presidential race. The movement garnered immense media attention and highlighted when as per the protestors and human rights activists claim, the Nigerian soldiers opened fire on a peaceful demonstration in Lagos.
In order to further boost the movement and to give it the necessary liquidation to fund the cause, the #ENDSARS Charity auction will be conducted. In a first of its kind charity auction event, the event will focus on raising as much ETH as possible to support the cause. The crypto so raised will be used in order to provide aid and relief for those who were affected by the Lekki Gate massacre of the peaceful #ENDSARS protestors in Nigeria.
Lekki Tollgate incident
As per the witnesses and human rights activists, just after dusk on a Tuesday one day, protestors recounted that street lights suddenly went out in the Lekki toll gate plaza. The crowds were singing the national anthem while the Nigerian security forces approached and opened fire. Ten people had reportedly died as per a tally by Amnesty International while hundreds were wounded.
The charity event is a way to raise ETH so that it can provide aid to those who are affected by this incident. All the funds will be donated to the Assata Collective, an organization that is hellbent on assisting and helping people who are affected by this cause.
The Art Gallery Auction house which will hold the auction is taking 0% commissions for the event, and the entire amount of ETH and RARI that will be raised will be used up to provide maximum aid to those who need it. The entire event will be transparent with details provided on how much amount has been raised.
Auction event details
The charity event is stated to be a treat to the eyes with more than 60 worldwide artists showcasing their work. More than 90 artworks will be on display at the event. The auctions are stated to take place as a 4-day event spanning from November 3-6. It will be a 20-minute spread of auction within which the necessary artwork will be displayed. The demand is set to be very high. The hours of the auction are between 10 AM and 6 PM.
