Web3 game creators can build on a new zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine, which promises to give gamers more ownership rights and compete with the huge gaming conglomerates.
Immutable zkEVM is a new EVM-compatible ZK-Rollup driven by Polygon technology and fully supported by the Immutable platform. It is scheduled to be released in the future months. The chain’s goal is to hasten the development and adoption of Web3 gaming. Now that the early documentation is available, game makers can begin early integration with Immutable zkEVM. Polygon’s zkEVM, which is scheduled for a March 27 mainnet beta launch, enables the validation of large volumes of transaction data by combining them into a single transaction that is subsequently validated on the Ethereum network. Immutable’s zkEVM solution will use the same technology.
How Immutable zkEVM Helps Game Creators?
According to Ryan Wyatt, president of Polygon Labs, the technology will allow game creators to focus on creating a “great game” rather than diverting resources to building the game on-chain.
In a tweet, Immutable co-founder and president Robbie Ferguson also stated that billions of dollars in in-game skins are sold each year with no rights to gamers.
Wyatt also told Cointelegraph that the collaboration came about despite the fact that Immutable and Polygon Labs were competitors and that the technology “very rapidly aligned us” and was “excellent for gamers and game makers.”
Immutable also announced two utilities with the launch of its Immutable zkEVM while hinting about the launch of two other utilities in the coming two months. These utilities include:
- Creators must pay 20% of Immutable zkEVM fees in $IMX
- $IMX will be the primary gas money for Immutable zkEVM.
