The NFT universe and real-world technology are connected with the help of digital media. Any news or even a tweet from the likes of Elon Musk can send an NFT collection soaring or crashing. Recently, the internet has been keenly following the trial of Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard. Johnny Depp emerged a winner, and as a result, his NFT collection saw a massive surge in price.
Johnny Depp has a collection of Ethereum-based NFTs titled “Never Fear Truth”, with a total trading volume of 1,500 ETH since its launch. Owning an NFT gives users access to Johnny’s community on Discord, where fans and friends collaborate on creative projects.
The community of Discord also offers an intimate environment for Johnny to express his creativity and provides the NFT holders access to his unique works, experiences, and future projects in music, art, and film.
Johnny Depp’s NFTs are open to all in a limited capacity and will grant the holders access only using their wallets with the NFTs. This collection includes artwork by Johnny Depp that is inspired by Heath Ledger, Elizabeth Taylor, Tim Burton, Al Pacino, Hunter S. Thompson, and River Phoenix, among others.
After the trial was completed, OpenSea’s data suggest that Depp’s NFT witnessed 212 sales since the verdict. Every NFT was sold at an average price of 0.8 ETH. Moreover, a report by CoinQuore also reveals that Depp’s collection was inactive before the trial in March 2022. The NFT collection has a starting price of 0.70 ETH with 11,111 generative art NFTs.
This case goes to prove that NFTs are now mainstream popular, and even actors such as Johnny Depp are experimenting with the technology. Moreover, the collective thinking of a community can decide the price and outcome of any collection or project in the crypto space.
