The NFT craze is wild and now the fans are pushing the artists to launch their collections for them to get their hands on exclusive content. NFTs have transformed the relationship between creators and fans and, understandably, more and more celebrities are leaping.
Magic Johnson
The basketball legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson has become the latest celebrity athlete to join the NFT industry by creating an NFT collection on NBA Top Shot. The collection is named “The anthology: Magic Johnson” and has 1600 NFT packs that feature several moments throughout his career.
“I’m really excited to partner with @nbatopshot to release my first NFTs and bring some of my favorite moments from my career to fans everywhere,” said Johnson in a tweet.
NBA Top Shot is built on the Flow blockchain network built by Dapper Labs in 2019. It is a proof of stake blockchain designed for NFT collectibles and crypto games. The NFT collection will drop on June 7th and will consist of 1600 NFT packs with a price tag of $399 per pack. 1200 of these packs will be airdropped to people with a Top Shot score of at least 150,000 and the remaining will be available to purchase regardless of the scores.
NFT Craze
Earlier this year, fellow former Laker Metta World Peace also launched a line of sneaker-themed NFTs called Metta Designsoles on Solana by collaborating with Blanksoles. However, this collection is much-anticipated as Johnson is an all-time favorite with 5 championships under his belt. Johnson was named Finals MVP and league MVP three times each and was a twelve-time All-star player.
The NFT wave has taken over the entire world and industries for the better. There are more opportunities for creators, fans, artists, celebrities, and everyone to participate in different capacities and make the most out of this exciting opportunity.
